Client: Agence Française de Développement (AFD)
Project Dates:
February 2022
- December 2022
Project objectives:
The three objectives of the assignment of the Consultant were as follows:
- Evaluating PWB performance, including on a regional perspective, and proposing to Namport / PWB an action plan to improve its performance
- Assessing Southern Africa corridors performance, proposing action plan to improve them and to develop new activities in PWB, then increasing PWB competitiveness, including in relation to GPMD and to potential Namport-GPMD maritime lines.
- Elaborating an action plan to strengthen PWB Green Port strategy and facilitate its implementation.
Poseidon services provided:
Reception and management of products under controlled temperature at the port of Walvis Bay – fishing activities and potential other ones.
The Consultant shall analyze existing and potential fishing and fishing industry activities in Namibia, and determine how these activities can promote cooperation and generate shared added-value for both PWB and the French port of Boulogne sur Mer, the first fishing industry French port (in the area of Dunkerque) but seeking new markets.
Those mutual benefits would come from the complementarity of industrial processes, partnerships with manufa
The Port of Walvis Bay is already equipped with a storage area for fish flows, to be assessed depending on the current local needs. However, the idea would be to explore further how to increase the added-value for PWB using/developing this storage area and processing potential new fishing-industrial activities.
