Client: Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs DEFRA and SERAD
Project Dates: January 2000 - August 2000

Project objectives:
Review of the evolution of the UK quota management system and examination of Individual quota systems as applied to Canada, USA, Namibia, Chile, Australia and New Zealand.

Poseidon services provided:
Poseidon was directly responsible for fishermen’s and Producer Organisation survey and assisted in the compilation of recommendations for change based on UK and International findings (2 man months). The project seeks to explore the implications of elaborating the UK management system to a fully fledged ITQ system. Data Envelopment Analysis is used to project the outcomes of such a transition (www.defra.gov.uk/esg/economics/econeval/fishquota/index.htm).
