Sustainable financing of LVFO institutions and development of a Business Plan
Client: Lake Victoria Fisheries Organisation (LVFO)
Project Dates:
May 2008
- July 2008
Project objectives:
Funding by Government of LVFO recurrent operational and programme costs was seriously inadequate in the three Partner States highlighting the urgent need for fiscal reform within the fisheries sector. A key component of the IFMP project was to ensure that fisheries institutions at all levels operated in an efficient, effective and coordinated manner and acquire long-term financial sustainability.
Poseidon services provided:
This study identified costs and sustainable sources of funds to finance the LVFO and other relevant institutions, and developed a Business Plan for the LVFO which included a financial analysis of the recurrent operational costs of LVFO institutions, programme costs for implementing the Lake Victoria Fisheries Management Plan and sources and magnitude of incoming revenue.
