Assessment of MSC ETP species review

Project objectives:
The Marine Stewardship Council asked Poseidon assist in developing advice related to version 3 of its Fishery Standard by identifying existing tools that can contribute to informed scoring of Endangered Threatened and Protected (ETP) and Out of Scope (OOS) Species.

Poseidon services provided:
Poseidon provided technical services including:

a) A summary of the tools available per taxa

b) A summary of the purpose, advantages and disadvantages of using each tool in the context of an MSC assessment. This could include whether the tool is only fit for particular gear types, species, etc.

c) Practical case studies of the application of these tools to relevant MSC fisheries, working with MSC to identify appropriate fisheries to test tools on.
