Project objectives:
Under the Strategic Framework for Scottish Aquaculture, the Scottish Executive developed a collective fish waste management infrastructure for the safe disposal of by-products from the aquaculture industry by the end of 2004. SEPA, under the National Waste Strategy identified fish wastes as a national priority.
Poseidon services provided:
Through this study, Poseidon provided SEPA with an up-to-date review of current and emerging technology options for the disposal of waste materials from the Scottish aquaculture and fish processing industries and the possible opportunities for value-adding or cost-recovery through the processing and treatment of wastes.
