Project objectives:
This study was funded by the Pew Charitable Trusts in support of the FAD management strategy under preparation by the Parties to the Nauru Agreement . It comprised the following deliverables:
- Identification of the main impacts of drifting FADs on coastal habitats (location and habitat types)
- Quantification of costs from lost and/or abandoned FADs
- Evauation of ecosystem impacts
- Assessment of the impacts of less damaging FAD designs
- Assessment of likely recovery scenarios
