Project objectives:
FAO is implementing the EU-funded New Aquatic Food Value Chains (NAVAC) project for the development for sustainable healthy diets for the most vulnerable in fragile contexts. The NAVAC project started in July 2025 and will last for five years.
Poseidon staff:
- Contributed to the development of the NAVAC methodology and the methodological documents to be used by NAVAC teams.
- Participated in a meeting in Rome to train FAO staff and NAVAC consultants on the NAVAC methodology.
- Provided inputs requested through the NAVAC ‘knowledge facility’.
- Provided technical support to teams in the five NAVAC countries (Chad, Mauritania, South Sudan, Guinea Bissau, Colombia) designing upgrading strategies.
- Peer reviewed the NAVAC analysis and design reports
Poseidon services provided:
Poseidon staff completed missions to Kenya (omena) and Guinea Bissau (mangrove oysters) as part of early project design, and then provided lead technical inputs to the full design of a value chain upgrading strategy for the mangrove oyster value chain in Guinea Bissau.
