Implementation of the Blue Economy Concept in Lombok Island

Project objectives:
The FAO Global Blue Economy Initiative was to be implemented in targeted countries with outputs and outcomes to be measured periodically. Indonesia was one of the targeted countries and the area selected for the implementation of Blue Economy Initiative is Southeast Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, Indonesia, this island is located adjacent to Bali Island.
Through the MOU between FAO and the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries-Indonesia, signed in Jakarta, May 27, 2013, FAO was to partner with the Government of Indonesia to develop this blue economy implementation zone by providing information, advice, capacity building and expertise to support i) the feasibility studies, ii) the development and implementation of the necessary policy and the capacity building activities for managing the agriculture related activities of the project.
Resources were sought from, among others, the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC)-USA.
Poseidon services provided:
Poseidon worked with FAO to prepare a comprehensive project proposal and document for resource mobilization, mainly from the government of Indonesia and also from few other identified donors.
